Who to Gain & Lose with Afghan Taliban's Likely Return to Power

The US is fast withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan under a peace deal Americans had with Afghan Taliban two years ago. On the other hand Afghan Talibans who already control nearly 75 percent territory, are now sieging and capturing districts and regions around the capital Kabul and beyond.

Afghan Talibans want setting up an Islamic system of governance while the government in Kabul is not willing to accept an interim setup led by the Talibans. The US fears, the Afghan Taliban are likely to overrun the capital Kabul— if Afghan President Ashraf Ghani doesn’t strike a peace deal with them.
The US has made it clear that Pentagon would not carry out airstrikes from its aircraft carriers outside Afghanistan to prevent Taliban’s possible takeover of capital Kabul.
