There is trouble in the Red Sea. Houthi attacks on ships have seen a diversion of maritime traffic away from the Suez Canal. This has led to rising shipping costs, and broken supply chains could push an already fragile global economy into recession.
Meanwhile, the Houthis have vowed to expand their attacks, even as the war in Gaza becomes a rallying cause for other non-state militant groups. International efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza have stalled, while joint naval efforts to stop the Red Sea attacks have seen limited success. With signs that the Red Sea crisis could deepen, what will this mean for India, Pakistan Vietnam, and the rest of Asia?
